Hi Ella. Wow that is a tricky one. The government is usually very strict with making changes on forms. Check the backs of the forms for more information or call the Australian Passport Information Service on 131 232.

Okay, I’m struggling here. I’m a child just turned 14. Today actually. I have recently got my passport signed, but realised there were mistakes made. Is there any rule in Australia that says you absolutely cannot correct it using any correction tape/fluid ? You see, my father lives in a different state, and it I can’t get him to sign a new one, as it costs too much to send it up and get it back to send into the post office again.

Hello “hi”,

Thanks for your comment. Seems I was fed mis-information (or mis-interpreted some information) given to me by a few friends who travelled to Japan. You are right, all the recommendations by Japan Immigration and others state that there the traveller to Japan on a tourist visa should have at least 6 months left on their passport.

I have updated the post accordingly.

Hey I am a bit confused by what you mean by;

“a traveller must have had their valid passport for 6 months before travelling outside of the country”

I have NEVER heard of this anywhere. Could you please tell me where you sourced this infromation. As I understand it a person may travel anytime as long as they have 6 Months left untill their passport expires, there is no time required between them getting their passport and travelling…
