Small local shrines appear in every neighbourhood in Japan. No matter their size, they always feature the same elements: a main hall, and a torii gate.

Akiba Shrine also features a pair of lion-dog statues 「狛犬 koma-inu」 which act as spiritual guards.

This is the same shrine I visited in Toyota for traditional Japanese new year celebrations for 2011/12. The shrine is just a short walk from my 1LDK apartment in the area (watch a video tour of my 1LDK Japanese apartment).
