When travelling, I’m not the kind of person who makes time for shopping. But when I do shop, I usually find myself near a train station… Shopping centres are almost always found at or near major train stations in Japan. Just another reason why Japan is so convenient!
Yodobashi Umeda 「ヨドバシ梅田」
On my visit here, the night before taking this photo, I bought a Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G lens, a tripod and a couple of spare camera batteries.
The Yodobashi Umeda building, alongside Osaka and Umeda Stations, offers a lot more than just cameras. Yodobashi Camera spans 6 floors, 2 of which are underground, and stocks all things tech: digital and video cameras, computers, laptops and tablets, household appliances and more (lots more!). It’s a very interesting store to stroll around, just to see how different (and similar) electronics are in Japan compared to your home country.
The 5th, 6th and 7th floors, above Yodobashi Camera, are filled with mostly smaller stores. Many of these are fashion stores catering for any style and budget. Some of the stores include:
- UniQlo 「ユニクロ」
- Jump Shop 「ジャンプショップ」: Anime and manga heaven!
- ABC Mart 「ABCマート」: A shoe store
The entire 8th floor is dedicated to dining and restaurants.
More information is available from the Yodobashi Umeda website (Japanese).
