On visiting Kyoto, I rarely focus on or plan to do shopping. On one trip to Kyoto I needed some new t-shirts, and located a UniQlo in a building called Mina ミーナ「Miina」. Mina is in Kawaramachi, not far from Gion and the awesome 9 Hours Capsule Hotel.
UniQlo regularly has Limited Edition T-Shirts like One Piece, Andy Warhol, Japanese artists and more. It was mid-autumn, still warmish, so I wanted to buy a couple of t-shirts.

But being the strict uniformity of Japan, since it was autumn and hence an official season change, there were no t-shirts, just 3/4 and full length long sleeve shirts.
Mina is on Kawaramachi-dori which runs parallel to the Kamo River, one block west. Closest to Sanjo Station, but also not far from Kawaramachi and Gion Shijo Stations, if you need do some shopping in Kyoto for cheap but decent clothes, seek this place out.
Along with UniQlo, Mina contains:
- GU: a cheaper version of UniQlo. I’ve also bought a lot of clothes from here.
- Loft: selling trendy home wares.
- Spaghetti & Cake Second House: a restaurant serving Italian and desserts.
- …and a few other random stores.
